Hood Warfare (2023)
Hood Warfare (Steam app 2274510) is the 2023 Windows PC game by Trapstar Games. It launched in Early Access on 26 January 2023 and the store still carried that label on 13 October 2026. It is the predecessor of Hood Warfare 2, not a console port.
Source checks
I opened the 2023 store page next to the sequel on 13 October 2026. The US price was a flat $4.99 with no discount. The city in the description is Detroit, with Bloods, Crips, and Vatos named in the studio’s own fiction disclaimer context and mode text. Steam’s Deck report marked it Playable. The current-player API returned 11 people that same day. The last gameplay-sized note I would trust is the 19 December 2025 “0.25” post; a 4 October 2026 news item is the sequel announcement, not a new map for this game.
Detroit maps and locations
The original Steam description names downtown, the suburbs, the police station and Detroit’s abandoned mall. These are Detroit locations in app 2274510, not the Chicago maps in the sequel.
Official update notes also name The Streets and Southside for multiplayer, plus the abandoned school and Detroit Penitentiary for Zombies. This combines the store and dated update descriptions; it is not a verified complete list from the current in-game menu.
Modes the store still lists
Gang Warfare is round-based with one life a round. Turf War scores ground you hold. Chaos is a free-for-all. Gangbang is the Bloods versus Crips shootout. A 3 Gang variant adds Vatos. Zombies is co-op and is not part of Hood Warfare 2’s mode list.
The Drive-By killstreak calls in an armored lowrider with a gun. It debuted at six kills in 2023; the June 2024 v0.22 patch sets the cost to five. Gun Game was also added in the June 2023 v0.18 patch. The store mentions bot matches, dynamic weather and voice chat including the opposing team.
Older, lighter PC requirements
The minimum block on the store page asks for Windows 7, an Intel i5 class CPU, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 960 class GPU, and 6 GB of disk. Recommended steps up to Windows 10, an i7 class CPU, 16 GB, an RTX 2080 class GPU, and 10 GB. Those figures are the store’s, not a measurement I took from an install.
Questions
Is the original still Early Access?
Yes. On 13 October 2026 the Steam page still listed Early Access. I did not find a 1.0 launch note.
Is it on Steam Deck?
Steam’s Deck compatibility report marked Hood Warfare Playable. Hood Warfare 2 was still untested that day.
